re: The Adventures of Shankher Stabbottom

0

After a good amount of pier pressure from my mentor, brother and best friend Ranbler, who says that in several areas I have surpassed his skills as a Burglar (to be discussed some other time); I have piked up quill, ink and parchment, and embarked on the joyful task of writing stories of my adventures so future generations can enjoy.

After setting off on an adventure, I left my beloved Shire and spent some time in the town of Bree where I came across my brother and the beloved member of the Shire folk: Piccola. They told me they had gathered with a group of like-minded folk from other races who have adopted the seal of "Oceanic Warriors". I was happy to join this group as they are a great bunch of folk. They are lead by a dwarf guardian of great skill who goes by the name of Tailspin, however everyone seems to call him Klob. This puzzles me, but I go with it.

Through my time in Bree I came across many perils in a place the big folk like to call THE BARROW DOWNS...I didn't think it was that bad a place though the smell was quite unpleasant. They sure could do with a hobbit or two to clean up the place.

As many Shire folk know I really enjoy having a good conversation with friends over a beer (or twenty). A few days ago, while enjoying my 15th beer and having a good spirited conversation with my old friend Barliman Butterbur at his establishment called the Prancing Pony, I met an interesting looking elf by the name of Northel, who comes from a region called Eregion, once a great stronghold of the Elves. She told me of an ancient group of Elves called the Valar and that these elves had a gift for me.

I managed to track down this elusive elves and for my efforts they gave me several gifts, the most important one being a significant increase to my strength, skills and morale.

While bragging about this to my fellow Oceanic Warrior Proelia - a Captain of great skill who is the most advanced student of Rancap, a renowned Captain of tremendous skills (so I've heard) - I got interrupted by a thunderous noise. It was my third cousin Huggleberry who was had just walked into a wall - he is prone to misadventure, specially while drunk.

After some sweet talking, Huggleberry convinced Proelia and I to go to a distant place called Carn Dum - a stronghold of the Angmarim, and face the many perils of that place.

We gathered three other of our fellow warriors: Shadryn - a Lore master of great skill, whose pet bog lurker Mushiebottom is a celebrity and has slayed many foes; Aurei - a Captain of great skill; and Suikachan - Tailspin's most advanced student and a great Guardian in her own merit.

Carn Dum is a foul place, they have a massive problem with their sewage system. I was surprised about this at the start given that so many little folk where working there - not quite sure what they were up to though. It wasn't until we reached a pool of disgusting water, which had a scary looking octopus in it - Helcham I think its name was, that I realized that it was one of his tentacles that was stuck in the drain what was stopping the effluent from flowing.

We battled our way through many foes in Carn Dum. As we fought we did Resounding Strikes, Diversion, a Three Pronged Assault, and we Mustered the Troops. Things we of the Burglars trade like to call "co-ordinations" but are also commonly known as "conjunctions".

After many tries and through the outstanding leadership from Proelia and resilient nature of us six, we heard the Thunder of the Oakenshield, saw the Wings of the Windlord - which brought some Oathbrakers to our side, saw the Dawn of the Deep, and heard the Whispers under the Mountain.

Through Proelias leadership we mastered many more conjunctions and battle our way through several angmarim and trolls. Through these battles we came across a mountain folk who asked Suikachan to escort him out of this perilous place. I was quite irritated by him since immediately after he made this absurd request he started running and did not wait for our assistance and did not stay and fight the many Gorthorog we slayed. I was placed to hear he made it out safely.

We continued our battle to the Castle of Carn Dum, not without having Huggleberry be victim of his own misadventure and having to rely on Proelia's skills to get Huggleberry back up.

Once we got to the throne room, which I must say was surprisingly shiny given all the grime in the place, we fought this highly egotistical being called Mordirith - he was no match for our combined skills.

The outstanding gambits from Huggleberry, the Valiant strikes and Gallant Displays from both our captains, the strong shield smashes and swipes from Suikachan, Shadryn's storm and fire strikes - in combination with Mushiebottom's relentless attacks; and last but not least my honed tricks and Clever Retort made this a memorable battle.

After this long adventure I commended my fellow Oceanic Warriors for their outstanding effort and bravery and made my way back to Bree, where I sold many of the treasures I gathered during this adventure and made my way to the Prancing Pony to have a few drinks and write these memoirs.

I had such a great time fighting alongside my fellow Oceanic Warriors. I can't wait for our next adventure and writing about it.

Last night I was talking to my uncle Bilbo Baggins. he told me of his most famous adventure where he left the Shire with Gandalf and a band of dwarfs.

He told me of a foul place called Goblin Town and he told me of a strange race called Beornings. he said that these "people" have the ability to transform into Bears and that they are good friends of the Hobbits. I was puzzled about this until Ranbler told me that several Oceanic Warriors belong to this race.

Fueled by a massive curiosity I went to OW headquarters in Bree and I came across one of those Beornings. He said his name was Farnilbeorn. We laughed at many things and we started talking about the foul place called Goblin Town and the tales of my uncle Bilbo.

We agreed that we needed to see this place for ourselves so we ventured into Goblin Town.

This place was full of perils and overflowing with angry goblins and lots of poison. We fought our way through waves of goblins, fought a mighty troll; and made our way to the Throne room where we fought 3 mighty goblins.

Not without our share of bumps, bruises, cuts and dirt naps we managed to overcome the odds and made it back to Bree to brag about our adventure and our great battle.

Even though I enjoyed my battle alongside this mighty Beorning I am still puzzled by these beings. They are a shady bunch who tend to cheat while they spar. Still they are no match to the dirty fighting style of us Burglars. Specially us Stabbottoms.

I look forward to my next adventure. My friend Huggleberry keeps telling me about this place in Northern Angmar called the Rift or something like that. Maybe I'll sneak into this place and come back with a treasure or two.
